As a German engineering company for medical devices we started in 1986 our first production of micro-needles (in the range of 0.15 to 0.23 mm in diameter) for tissue implants. In 1999 we continued with our research for micro-needle therapies. In 2000 we patented the Dermaroller®. With this unique tool tiring and time consuming single-needle scar therapies became obsolete. Numerous clinical studies and research confirmed our thesis that very slim and non-traumatic micro-needles in the range of 0.5 to 1.5 mm in length stimulate new collagen and capillary formation in the skin. We developed a minimal invasive and non-ablative needling technology without any skin lesion. In close cooperation with plastic surgeons we gradually improved our devices, and today the Dermaroller® is the most versatile and effective medical device for scar treatment of any form, depressed acne scars and hypertrophic scars after operations or accidents. Compared with any other conventional therapies, the Dermaroller® produces visible, lasting and impressive scar improvement.

It is a well researched fact that delivery of drugs and vaccines direct through the upper skin layer (epidermis) stimulate a much higher therapeutic and immune response compared with normal hypodermic needles in muscle tissue. This in return was the starting point for the research for new drugs and DNA-vaccines that are applied right into the upper skin layer, not deeper than 0.2 to 0.3 mm. This way of drug and vaccine delivery is painless, scar-free, and reduces possible systemic side effects to a minimum. Numerous laboratories started to develop transdermal delivery devices made from silicon and biodegradable plastic needles and arrays. We took on that challenge, and based on our technical knowledge in handling fine steel needles we started to concentrate on micro devices for transdermal delivery arrays. Laboratory tests confirmed the efficasy and superiority of our micro-steel needles, and encouraged us to start commercial sales of transdermal delivery devices beginning 2012.

Today we are worldwide No.1 in manufacturing medical micro-needle devices, and we shall continue our efforts to improve our life with the best available instruments - MADE IN GERMANY
